The Center For Child Counseling suggest tips to help cope that include: spending time talking to your children, help them to feel safe by discussing activities that schools and communities are putting in place to promote safety, and to limit all forms of media exposure that can compound the trauma and produce rumors and misinformation.

You can also make a difference. Local efforts to break down barriers and stigmas regarding mental health and wellness have been ongoing. Consider joining a mental health coalition, volunteering for the National Alliance for Mental Illness or Mental Health Association or help bring Mental Health First Aid classes into your community, workplace or place of worship.
