211 Helpline Partners With Peggy Adams Animal Rescue To Provide Emotional Support To Suicide Prevention Counselors
June 25, 2018 [Lantana, FL] – On Thursday, June 28th at 11:00am, staff from Peggy Adams Animal Rescue in West Palm Beach will be bringing adorable, adoptable dogs to 211 HelpLine’s facility in Lantana, to provide emotional support to their suicide prevention counselors.
In wake of the two recent celebrity suicides, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, 211 HelpLine has seen an uptick in the number of mental health and suicide related calls, chats and texts, coming into the center. Staff at 211 HelpLine are trained Specialists who work to assess callers’ situations and de-escalate crisis situations, including individuals having suicidal thoughts.
Experts have said that dogs have a “magical healing power” for those under stress due to any reason and given the increase in the number of intense calls, texts and chats our staff have been handling, management at 211 felt like it was the ideal time to bring in some furry friends to provide some laughs, cuddles and I’m sure lots of kisses to the hard working and dedicated staff.
