PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. —

A mass drive-thru testing site for COVID-19 is opening Tuesday at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches on Havernhill Road.

“As a result of this increased testing, you will see an increase in the number of positive tests,” said Director of Palm Beach County Florida Department of Health Dr. Alina Alonso during a county press conference Sunday.

Those who want to be tested can call the Health Care District testing line to schedule an appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday. On-site testing will begin Tuesday.

To register and schedule an appointment, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County testing number is 561-642-1000.

Anyone who goes to the FITTEAM Ballpark testing site without an already scheduled appointment will not be tested.

The testing site is operated by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County and Florida National Guardsmen. It is expected that up to 250 people will be able to be tested per day.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced Friday he was sending the National Guard to the county to set up the site.

“I think it’s important to expand the testing there so we can get a better sense of what’s going on,” DeSantis said.

According to the Florida Department of Health, Palm Beach currently has the third most cases of COVID-19 in the state.
