14th Annual Great Charity Challenge 2023
The14th Annual Great Charity Challenge 2023 took place Saturday February 4th, at the Wellington International Equestrian Center.
Founded in 2009, the Great Charity Challenge sponsored by Fidelity Investments® (GCC) came forward as a way to increase funding to local non-profits, following the 2008 economic crisis, at a time when donations were scarce.
To date, the GCC has distributed $17.7 million to over 294 Palm Beach County non-profit organizations.
Sharon L’Herrou President/CEO of 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast had been excited to learn earlier that week that her organization had been selected for a Wild Card position in the event- which matched sponsoring teams of 3 riders with 49 local charities.
In addition to the equestrian portion, the event featured local school bands and singers, carnival style entertainment and a student art show. The event was also kicked-off with the second annual pet parade hosted by The Postage Stamp Farms Foundation- with the message that “you are never too old or too young to make a difference!”. 211 also wants to thank Double H Farm’s parade team who represented 211 and took second place to win the organization $8,000 in addition to the subsequent third placement win in the main equestrian event…way to get the night started Double H! Extra sweet treat in addition to the Mars candy companies sponsorship and confections enjoyed throughout the evening.
211’s “Wild Card” Spot Turned Into A Third Place Win!
Equestrian Team 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast was sponsored by The Postage Stamp Farm Foundation, with an additional supporting sponsor Next One Equestrian LLC. Thank you to riders Alex Breyer, Stephanie Garrett, David O’Brien and their gallant mounts who lead Team 211 to a third-place victory to win an $80,000 grant!
